Charm and grace is launched ...

February 21, 2007

After much anticipation and work, work, work... the day for launching has finally arrived. When you begin a venture like this, you have all the ideals in your mind as to what the finished product will be. But, as you begin to work and try to flesh out your ideas, you see that it's never as easy as you thought or hoped it would be. Despite the learning curve and the lack of being able to get things "just so", I am very hopeful that what is here will not only be of benefit to the reader, but will also just bring simple pleasure. I am not here to sell anything or to push any product. I am only here to present articles on a variety of subject matter in the same style perhaps as a magazine would. There may or may not be advertisements, and that again is as one might find in a magazine. I will try very hard to use pictures, because being a visual person myself, I truly enjoy those things that are a feast for the eyes. So, make yourself at home as you browse around. Come back often and please write with any suggestions...

Blessings!

The weather, the internet, the beach, and the blog...

February 9, 2007

Many websites and days later...

Where I live, we usually don’t see temperatures much below freezing… at least not for very many days of the year. But, it has been really cold (no really cold) lately and it has been great! Winter is my favorite season and I really love the cold (admittedly, were I to live somewhere that temperatures stayed below freezing for long periods of time I might feel differently.) This cold weather seems to have brought with it sluggish internet connections. No really, it seems that there have been more hours this month where our internet service has been out than those where we could actually get online.

Fortunately during this month I had the privilege of traveling to Florida where the weather was somewhat rainy but temperatures were quite mild. Somehow, no matter how rainy or chilly, just seeing the ocean restores my sense of perspective on life. I know that there is something wild and wonderful about nature. When I stand with my toes in the surf, I know that I am not in control any more than I could take my hands and keep the tide from washing in or going back out. There is such a wonderful rhythm about the tide that makes you know that God is in control, otherwise the tide would keep coming ashore and never stop. If He can hold the tide back, He can surely take care of me. I am thankful...

I have made quite a bit of progress in learning Dreamweaver and have spent a large amount of time these past couple of weeks working with Flash 8 and learning animation. Boy is that a lot of fun, and at the same time it eats hours at a time. I now have an animated header for my homepage and I can’t seem to stop tweaking it. I guess that is the one place I have perfectionistic tendencies and it is probably necessary at this point in the learning curve. I am having to allow for that in time as well as in skill. The perspective from my visit to the ocean applies to this so much in that it made me so thankful for the opportunities I still have to learn and grow and to do what I love to do. Wishing you a thankful day as well…
