The Cotswolds...
What place says "spring" better than this lovely spot of English countryside. As we travel through the Cotswolds in these photos, imagine yourself going for a brisk walk through green fields and along winding paths bordered by Cotswold stone.
Much of the history of the Cotswolds is centered around this structure (left), what once was a local sheep market. The area owes much of its wealth to the wool industry, centuries ago, which gave rise to some of the beautiful manor houses and churches throughout the countryside. Even in the names of the towns and villages such as Stow-on-the-Wold, Chipping Campden, Bourton-on-the-Water, and Cheltenham, we see the romance and flavor of the area. Hearing these beautiful names evokes a pleasure and longing to see what they are really all about.
Lovely lanes lined by fences made of the beautiful Cotswold stone and borderd by gorgeous wildflowers criss-cross the countryside. This beauty is so treasured that the English themselves look forward to getting to the Costwolds for holiday, and an escape to this pastoral and peaceful place is just within driving distance from the hustle and bustle of some of England's major cities. It is a must for any person touring England for the first time.
Here you can see one of the lovely places to stay overnight in the Cotswolds, the Broadway Hotel. Rich with history and charm, this hotel stands in the center of Broadway, dates back to the 16th century, and since 1772 has looked much the same as it does today. Although it boasts a rich history, its nineteen guest rooms are beautifully decorated and have modern conveniences to accommodate the traveler's needs. Even the restaurant here is a wonderful treat with its warm decor and minstrels gallery.

The lush green countryside with pastures, willows, and wildflowers draws us and inspires us. It beckons us to come and visit... and visit again.
