For me, sketching this picture was very special because it is a very recognizable landmark from the campus of the university from which I graduated.  This campus is the place where I first came to know the Lord, where I made some of the most special friends I have ever had, and where I met my husband.  It holds some wonderful memories and also is a place I still visit frequently.  The campus itself has changed quite a bit since I graduated 22 years ago (giving a little too much information, there.)  But, this one spot hasn’t changed at all.  It is still beautiful and still plays beautifully on the hour, quarter-hour, and half-hour.  And, to me, there is such a regal quality about the way it towers over the trees lining the beautiful quadrangle in the middle of the campus.

Architecture is one of those things that can evoke emotions because it holds a memory.  This is certainly true for me with Denny Chimes.

Christi, thank you for stopping by and telling me your wonderful story. I could have gone on and on with many others on that post but those three stood out for me that day. My brother, who is now 44, was one of the biggest drug dealers here when he was a teenager. Without getting into the whole story, he got set up by his “girlfriend” and was facing 40 years in prison at age 18! The only time God spoke to me audiably was the night before his sentencing. He said “I will take care of Kelly but he must serve me all the days of his life.” In court that day, the judge looked down at my brother’s file and then looked back up. He said “I could not sleep last night. I know if I sentence this young man, I will not have any peace.” Two of the three drug charges had been dropped by some strange twist of fate (named Jesus)….the judge sentenced my brother to 5 years and suspended all five years!. He never served a day in jail. A judge got saved because of my brother!

My brother is a preacher and has touched many lives.

    God Bless You!
    Judy

    P.S. Love your drawings
